From Soldier to Knight: Tiquan
Tiquan dedicated just over four years of his life to the United States Army. Serving from 2010 to 2014, he worked as a petroleum supply specialist — or fueler — managing the reception, storage, and shipping of various petroleum-based products.
Upon completing his military service, Tiquan found himself as a dock worker in a new job. Here, he frequently interacted with Knight Transportation drivers who were delivering at the location. Their work and professionalism sparked his interest in pursuing a life behind the wheel. His uncle, an owner of a dump truck company, also influenced these aspirations.
After obtaining his Class A CDL, Tiquan applied to join Knight’s fleet, and through this process, his recruiter enrolled him in the military apprenticeship program. Designed to help veterans like him transition into a civilian role, this track offered both structure and financial support as he looked to leverage his skill set in an entirely new industry.
Now over a year into this journey, he’s closing in on 75,000 miles driven with our Port Services team in Savannah!
Looking ahead, Tiquan sets his sights on possibly becoming a Knight owner-operator in the future, the pathway of an entrepreneur.
His adaptability and ambition embody Knight’s vision to facilitate extensive opportunities for veterans starting out their trucking careers.
