Driver Spotlight: Jose G.
For Jose, trucking isn’t just a job- it’s a way of life. After years of working in warehouses and driving box trucks, he took a leap of faith, earned his CDL, and joined the trucking industry. That decision led him to Knight, where he has spent the past year building a career he is proud of.
Jose’s journey with Knight began with a phone call from a recruiter. At the time, he was considering other companies, but something about that conversation made him decide to give Knight a shot. That decision turned out to be one of the best he’s ever made. “I’m so happy to be part of this company and I enjoy it,” he said. “This month coming up, it’s gonna be one year with this company. I’m so happy to work with this company ’cause I feel like part of the family.”
For Jose, one of the standout aspects of Knight is the culture. He feels respected and supported, knowing that the company prioritizes his safety and well-being. “They’re not pushing me so hard… they’re not forcing me to take the loads that I don’t feel safe [with].”

Jose knows he can always rely on his terminal’s leadership to have his back. When Jose expressed his desire to keep moving and get more miles, his team made sure he had the opportunities he wanted. “I told my terminal manager… ‘I really want to keep it moving. You know, I really want the miles.’ He said, ‘That’s not a problem, I said, we’re going to work it out, and we’re going to try the best I can to keep you busy.’”
Like many drivers, Jose acknowledges that being away from family is one of the toughest parts of the job. However, he appreciates that Knight understands the importance of family time. “Brent says, ‘Jose, you know, holidays are coming up. So do you want to be home, or do you want to be out?’ They give me the option… they never refuse to give it to me.”
As a trainer, Jose takes pride in shaping new drivers into responsible, skilled professionals. His training approach is rooted in safety and discipline.
“Safety first, because the truck is like my house. So, I have to make sure that everything is running properly.”
Along with safety, Jose stresses the importance of a positive mindset to his students. “I told them, ‘You have to think positive… If you put barriers in front of you, you’re not going to cross.’”

Jose has built a career with Knight that goes beyond just driving. He works hard, takes pride in his role, and seizes every opportunity the company offers him. He also encourages other drivers to take full advantage of Knight’s career growth opportunities.
“I tell [new drivers], ‘If you stay with this company, you’re not going to be just driving. You’re going to be—later on, I don’t know, two years, three years—you can be a DM, you can be a dispatcher, you can be a trainer. You can be anything as long as you want.’”
And for those wondering whether Knight is the right place to build a future, Jose’s answer is simple: “I don’t think there’s another company that can give you better opportunities than Knight.”
